The Society for New Communication Research reports that blogs, online video and social networks are the most popular social media tools. Why are they the so popular? They build relationships. Corporate blogging provides us with a storehouse of information. Videos posted to YouTube or other video sharing platforms, combined with a blog, stimulates our visual perception of a company, its people. Finally, niché social networks like SmallerIndiana, PROpenMic, and PitchEngine (three I belong to) keep people conneted, strengthen their sense of belonging. "People want connection and growth and something new, " says Seth Godin. "They want change."
How are you using social media -- blogs, social networks, and video -- to engage and lead your people?
